Earlier in the week I went a wandering (in my newly purchased green skirt - love) & headed to the Glasgow Vintage Company on Great Western Rd. (It's sister shop Watermelon is just a little further up the road.) It is a treasure of trove of vintage furs, dresses, boots & bangles. I always find good quality pieces at decent prices. The shop is a visual delight with dresses hanging from the ceiling, boots waiting upright for a new home & gold accessories gleaming from every surface. The store is set over two floors, with menswear downstairs (I always like to have a wonder down because they have the good hats & over night bags!)
I was very well behaved on this occasion & left with a backpack & leather purse (I might have to go back for some winter jumpers that I spied). I will feature my purchases in a later post but wanted to give you a feel for the atmosphere of the store. As much as I love a good treasure hunt for vintage pieces, there is something great about going into a store where you can tell they love what they do & put time into how items are displayed. Any tips for favourite vintage haunts?

That line of fur coats is just making my heart beat. I love that you love thrifting! So many great finds.
ReplyDelete@blondehaus Thank you, I love to shop vintage. I think you have to be in the right mood to rummage but it always feels more special than just walking into a store & buying the same as everyone else.
ReplyDeleteadore all the fur, makes me want to be Betty Draper!x

ReplyDelete@Blue, thanks I need to put a post together with my latest vintage treasures x
ReplyDeleteI really like Watermelon, I got a nice green vintage cocktail dress there a year ago - still never worn it, waiting for the right event! Have you been to Saratoga Trunk in Glasgow? I went once many years ago but as far as I know it's still there and it's massive, hours of rummaging fun! Carla :)
ReplyDelete@PolkaDot Lighthouse I love Watermelon too, have got some really nice items from there & they are always nice & friendly which I like. I have but many years ago, it is a full day of rummaging. now that you mention it, it is making me want to go check it out again. only thing that puts me off is that they like if you make an appointment, I will just have to try & be an organised vintage shopper for a change! x
