Off on sunshine adventures

This will be my balcony view for the next couple of weeks
I think I am a person who should have been born in a warm country. My boyfriend despairs over my love for the sun & general moaning about rain filled Scotland. I can't help it, I love summer & everything it stands for! So with this being said, I am heading off in search of sun shaped happiness - kir royales, beach lazing & book reading.
Currently trying to pack (lots of bikinis & one too many dresses) & create sunshine filled playlists on my iPhone. So far I have Air, Bon Iver's new album (bargain on amazon this week), Fleet Foxes, Bombay Bicycle Club & Noah and the Whale (yes, I like mellow beach days with the soundtrack of mellow rock!)
Got the factor 50 & big straw hat (trying to avoid those pesky wrinkles), so enjoy yourselves kids & shop wisely! au revoir xxx

Mulberry sale crushing

It has taken all the willpower I possess not to splurge this week in the Mulberry sale. I have been permanently attached to my laptop in a bid to get lots of work finished off before holiday time & I know that all that soft leather goodness is only a click away. Here are my wish list picks:
Mulberry Tillie in Powder Beige Sparkle Tweed £577 was £825 (this season's must have Mulberry)

Mulberry Bayswater Black Drummed Patent Leather £520 was £868(a classic)

Daria Mini Satchel in Bright coral £332 was £475 (perfect for summer accessorising)

Mila Oak Ostrich £2,501 was £3,574 (why not dream big!)

Mila Mini Bag in Oak Ostrich £536 was £766 (the serious contender)
Daria small zip around purse in Powder beige sparkle tweed £115 was £165 (small but perfectly formed)
Mulberry's soft leather & twists on their classic leather goods does get my pulse going a little faster. I can't guarantee that I will be able to hold out much longer, the Mila Mini & I could be very good friends!
Has anyone nabbed any sale bargains yet?

Summer style inspiration

I've been dreaming of beach lying, book reading, sun soaking beach filled days. I love Zimmermann bikinis & based this look on this gorgeous floral number.
I am counting the days until I can throw a bikini on & swim in the Med (6 days to go!!)

Thrifting finds

What is it about the thrill of finding something that someone else is discarding...it always makes me feel like I've discovered buried treasure (well this is the closest I will get to pirate life)! Having spent a lot of time at my computer of late, it has kept me from pounding the pavements in search of goodies & thrown me back into eBay & the likes. These are some of my thrifty finds over the past few weeks:

Moto by Topshop cut off denim waistcoat- eBay purchase £4 (perfect for throwing on over all my little floral dresses)

Bargain of the week M&S 80's turquoise cardigan £2.50 from The Thrift Store by Katie Styles

Floral vase, small & perfect for little bouquets & individual flowers from the garden - Salvation Army £1

Vintage inspired necklace (my guess Topshop or Miss Selfridge) local charity shop 50p
I am mostly on the look out for vintage little dresses (as always) & winter items. I always find especially on eBay, that summer time is the best time to buy boots, cardigans & coats, as people want to clear out their wardrobe & no one else wants a coat in June.  I am contemplating having a month of no spending in July so I feel I should stock up now.
Anyone get any bargains this week or have any tips for finding the best thrifty finds?

Wedding tales

Why is it always Monday morning & hardly ever Friday night I ask you?

In other news my wedding panic worked out ok & it was a lovely evening filled with bubbles (lemonade & orange for me - designated driver) & twirling on the dance floor. The wedding party all looked amazing, congrats to the happy couple Mr & Mrs Bartlett.

In the end it was a sunny evening & I opted for the (No 3 option) Zara black lace dress with the drop waist, stupidly high shoes from Autograph at M&S, Luella clutch & vintage gold necklace.

Wedding wear woes

I seem to have reached age & stage in life when I have to stock up on appropriate wedding attending attire. Off to a wedding reception this weekend with my girl friends which should be lovely. The boy & I have at least 4 coming up over the summer.

Never very sure of the wedding attendee protocol (apart from the don't wear white or anything that screams look at me), especially when you are a night time only guest? I am at the I have nothing to wear panic (again). Resisting temptation to just go out & buy something new, but I have the perpetual boredom with my current selections. The choice seems to be between these, with dress no 1 or 2 as stand out contenders. Any input welcome. Don't even get me started on accessory selection.

Urban Outfitters gold dress

Urban Outfitters cream floaty number
Zara Audrey Hepburn lace dress

Clutch bags galore- mostly vintage with a hint of Luella
Will let you know what I end up wearing & whether I make a mad dash to the shops before hand.

My week in pictures

I am trying to remember to take pictures of stuff, trying being the operative word. I thought I would try & give you a visual snap shot of my week so far.

My green tea fixation has reached new heights this week. My friend Katie kindly supplied me with my latest obsession, Fortnum & Mason's Darjeeling green tea... it is oh so good. Though a little fiddly with the strainer.
This is my manta for the week.
New Asos purchase, I do love them for easy to wear blouses with quirky twists such as the neck tie on this. Also loving everything beige, nude & in between.
My thrifty find of this week, super huge scarf from second hand shop Glorious. I love that it can be worn as a shawl or wrapped round as an all engulfing scarf. It will be getting packed away until colder times surface.
Kember & Jones waffles (I think I have a slight addiction to their maple syruppy goodness) plus there were berries that has to count for something. Brunch on Saturday was a lovely way to kick off the weekend.
The waffles lead nicely onto the next picture, I am now going to pilates 3 times a week in order to resemble Blake Lively by beach o'clock. Having seen her extra special online appearance last week, I now have a more graphic body image to aim for...

My summer reading pile is mounting.

Westend Festivaling

My Sunday was spent in the park, praying for the rain to stay at bay, so that the festival spirit wouldn't be too dampened. It seemed like everyone & their dogs had come out for the kick off of the Westend festival & parade. Organised people brought picnics, one man out did the lot by bringing his dining chair, table & very best china for afternoon tea (all I managed was a warm up tea & scone from Heart Buchanan). From the parade it would seem that the Glaswegian hobbies of choice are being in a samba band or taking belly dancing classes. Lots happening over the next month, I will have to actually get organised & plan what to do. Looking forward to the Gibson St party next Sunday (please be sunny, I am a fair weather attendee).

Shhh...I'm writing

So June begs the promise of sunnier days, beach days, pimms in the park & floaty summer dresses. Until then I have my mammoth to do list to get through.

June for me is all about writing, writing, bit of reading & some more writing for good measure. So I haven't gone off on some adventure, I will be productively chained to my desk hoping for inspiration.

To me, the greatest pleasure of writing is not what it's about, but the inner music the words make.  ~ Truman Capote
