Lover of pretty things, french fancies and partial to a granny knit. Musings, ramblings and everything in between.

End of week & I'm possibly a grown up...

Another week ticked off, hope you all had a good one. I had a rather exciting week, one of my good friends gave birth to a healthy, happy little girl on Monday. My friend Katie & I duly bought as much pink as we could get our hands on & went to coo over the new bundle of loveliness. As she is the first one of my friends to do anything remotely grown up, this was very exciting for us all (we might be a little behind the curve for 26/27 year olds). So I got to hold her & managed not to break her & my ovaries might even have jumped up & down a little bit.

So maybe this means I can be a grown up, I will shake off my Peter Pan syndrome & I will start making sensible decisions? Hmmm....

Ps. Congrats Cara, Bruce & baby!

Lets play dress up

I am like a little granny & love nothing more than a good shade of beige, honey, cream & caramel. From my vintage Burberry trench to my big, cream, arran knit, I am enjoying the easy to wear hue. So I picked out some dressing up box inspiration to brighten up my Wednesday ( & hopefully yours!)

Bedazzled & bejwelled

As my posts may have given away, I enjoy a cocktail ring or two - especially a vintage inspired one. I was reading my blog roll last week & admiring the styling of Frassy when I noticed that she was selling House of Harlow 1960 inspired rings. I did the way too easy point, click, Paypal & a couple of days later my new cocktail bauble magically arrived from France.

It is not the sort of ring I would wear most days, only on big nights out (which lets be honest now, I am old, they don't happen that often) so I couldn't justify the £50ish price tag of a real one. What do you think? Good substitute?

House of Harlow 1960 - 14ct gold Sunburst cocktail ring £51
My ring from Frassy £5.99 (+ postage)

For the love of all things hats

I do enjoy a hat, if only I could incorporate one into every outfit. Inspired by one of the blogs I read by Smeeeff, I figured I should let my hat love run free. Bobble hats, berets, pillar boxes, fedoras I love them all!

I do wish I lived in a 1920s Gatsby town where I could wear hats for all occasions. Seeing Ralph Lauren's 2012 collection ignited my hat love even more!

Unfortunately I don't have much of a Gatsby life but a girl can always be ready in waiting with a hat:
Whistles wide brim felt hat £50
Catarzi Cloche hat £28

Asos Faux Fur Cossack hat £16
Asos Slot Through Turban £12
Happy hat filled Saturday x

Jump for joy its Friday!

We meet again, my old trusty friend Friday! hope you had a great week. Mine mostly consisted of trying to get to know my new camera (his name is Oscar the Olympus). I mostly enjoy him because of his pretty case.
also loving the Instagram update.

Anyways, Oscar & I have been on outings this week to try & get acquainted with one another (I am not the most technologically gifted, if you hadn't already noticed, so this process may take some time!) Please be patient.

Oscar, the boy & I in Kelvingrove Park
Have a great weekend xxx

My new shoe love from Zalando

Happy midweek! Mine was made all the happier with the arrival of my new boots  (I did my happy dance which the courier thought was a little awkward to say the least.) They are the perfect fit for my autumn wardrobe.

My Zign brogue boots are perfect - comfy, brown suede, with quirky detailing.
I have been looking for everyday boots with a little bit of quirk. I live in boots pretty much from Oct-April & like a good selection to pick from. As much as I love Topshop & the rest of the highstreet giants, I always like to find shoes that are a little bit more unique & that I won't see every other girl wearing. I ordered my new boot loves from Zalando - I stumbled across them & they seem to be just new to the UK market, anyways it turns out they are a shoe mecca. They had lots of brands from all over Europe (in fact there was a little too many to choose from!) With free delivery, it seemed rude not to order them!

Perfect addition to my autumn look
Other boots I spied & added to my never ending wish list:
Vagabond ankle boots in grey - £80 - I love a wedge & the wear with everything colour of these
Les Tropeziennes par M Belarbi in brown - £65 - buckle boots never seem to go out of fashion & I love the simple style of these
Billi Bi Ankle boots in beige - £165 - these look buttery soft & perfect for all those winter knits
How is everyone's autumnal shopping going?

Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair (part two)

Another week & some more vintage finds, this time from the amazing Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair that hit Glasgow last Thursday. Ok so the jig is up, 'No spend September' is a distant memory, it was good while it lasted & made me think more consciously about my spending, but the treasures at Judy's were too hard to resist!

The fair always has a great selection of traders from all over the UK, who are happy to share stories of their wares & advise on fit. With 50s & 60s music blaring & the crowd starting to appear, I arrived early to get a good browse before it got too busy. There were rows of arran knits, fur coats, tweed blazers & denim cut offs - vintage heaven! I was in the market for more winter wonders & it didn't disappoint.

Jumpers, cardigans & fur oh my!

My finds:

Windsmoor blouse
Floral dress upcycled with leather collar from the lovely girls at Vi Nouveau
Well loved leather back pack
Country Casual cord burgundy shorts & huge Arran knit cardigan
The fair is back again at in a couple of weeks & I will be hunting once again. You should check out their site to see if they are coming to a city near you.

Hello fashion week

I love when fashion is suddenly everywhere & taking up column inches on the front pages. As much as I love all the chat surrounding NY fashion week & London fashion week, it is what all the attendees are wearing that gets my pulse going. From fashion editors, bloggers, off duty models & the Olivia Palermos of the world, it is a chance to see the pinnacle of fashion's outfits for a couple of weeks straight.

Don't get me wrong, I will be pouring over Vogue & Grazia daily to read the show reports (especially Marc Jacobs, 3.1 Philip Lim, Alexander Wang, Mulberry & Burberry Prosum) but the front row spotting is just so much more appealing. How has everyone been enjoying the fashion weeks' so far? Anyone have a favourite fashion week?

Pleasantly suprised by Victoria Beckham's gorgeous print dresses

Picture filled Friday

Vendredi again, hope everyone had a good week.  I had a rather productive week & managed to fit in some tea & cakes (as always), some strolling around the quirky shops of Glasgow's westend & caving & buying some boots on ebay- at £7 it was rude not to (so goodbye no spend September - I hardly knew you! expect a bumper post at the start of next week about how I fell off the no spend wagon in spectacular fashion!) xxx

Lust haves

This week I have been drooling, as ever, over some lovely pieces - clutches, cardigans & jewels oh my.

J.Crew jewellery (loving their UK online store) deco cabochon ring - £41.72 - I love cocktail rings & this might be the perfect adornment for dare I say it, the festive season!
Kurt Geiger Humbug Clutch - £170 - maybe it is just me but I have a few pair of Kurt Geiger shoes & would never have thought of looking there for accessories. This bag is gorgeous but maybe a bit steep - though clutches are always great (anytime I use one, I think I should use this more, then I remember that I rival Mary Poppins with the amount that I carry on a daily basis!)
Aubin & Wills Muscatel merino wool cardigan - £80 - I always associate net-a-porter with luxury& normally my handbag drooling, I was pleasantly suprised when I just happened to stumble across their knitwear section that they had some more reasonably priced labels too. Aubin & Wills & all their tweed & heritage looks just fits in perfectly with my brogue loving, Pringle wearing, tweed coveting that I am doing this autumn. Although granted this cardigan is pricey (thanks to the merino wool) it is the sort of thing I would wear well into next summer.

What is everyone else lusting after this week in stores?
